Hi, I'm Ramsay, your Play Therapist!I specialize in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), an evidence-based approach designed to help children express their emotions, process experiences, and navigate challenges through the power of play.
I provide a unique space where children are fully seen and heard, where they are encouraged to express themselves freely and naturally. Whether a child is grappling with anxiety, trauma, behavioural issues, or interpersonal challenges, I can provide the supportive environment for them to work through any issue! |
Why Play Therapy?
Kids under 11-12 years old don't have full access to the logical parts of their brains, therefore, talk therapy isn't developmentally appropriate. Kids process their experiences through play, rather than words. Play is the vehicle for emotional expression, and allows children to communicate feelings they might not have the words to articulate.
In CCPT, toys are the child’s words, and play their conversation. As children engage with the toys, they project their inner world onto the play space, often revealing struggles, fears, and desires. The therapist reflects the child’s emotions and behaviours, helping them to develop greater self-awareness, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Over time, this process supports emotional healing and resilience, offering children a pathway to navigate life’s challenges with a stronger sense of self. |
How it Works
In our sessions, kids are given the unique opportunity to be in charge. I create a safe and unconditionally accepting space where your child is not pressured to talk or forced to do boring worksheets. Instead, they are empowered to choose how the session unfolds, what toys they engage with, or what games we play. My role is to reflect their emotions and behaviours, helping them gain insights and make sense of their own emotional landscape. Over time, this process helps children:
